DAVANAGERE: Many questions are being raised after the death of 25-year-old Chandrashekhar, nephew of Honnali BJP MLA Renukacharya, who is also political secretary to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.

Chandrashekar had been missing since Sunday last and four days later, his car Hyundai Creta SUV was found in a canal near Soratur between Honnali and Nyamati, with his body in the rear seat.

According to forensic expert Dr Phanindra, “It is clear that the car was overspeeding, perhaps at 100-120 kmph, and the front and rear portions of the car were badly damaged. The car hit a milestone first, which broke its speed, and then hit a concrete wall and crashed into the canal”.

Apart from this, there are also questions about Chandrashekhar’s state of mind at that time. A flurry of calls on his phone hint that he may have been under some sort of pressure. Call records show that Chandrashekhar spoke to many people on Sunday night. The police have recovered the call records of Chandrashekhar.

Sanjay Kumar, a friend of Chandrashekhar, who spoke to Public TV, said, “He wanted to meet me once. He was going to Honnali that day, but I was not available in Shivamogga at that time. He talked me normally for about a minute. We have known each other since 2015. I work in Bengaluru, but I used to meet him whenever I visited the town.”
