BENGALURU: Television actor Lakshmi Siddaiah has been accused of causing an accident and assaulting a woman on the road. The incident took place on December 6 last year near the Jnana Bharati metro station, but has come to light only now. A complaint has been lodged at Jnana Bharati police station.

The complaint against Lakshmi states that she hit the vehicle of the complainant from behind due to overspeeding and she created a ruckus with them. Lakshmi has also been accused of assaulted the complainant and her companion, and using abusive language.

As per the complaint, the incident took place on December 6 when Madhuri and her sister Aishwarya were riding a scooter near Jnana Bharati metro station, when actress Lakshmi, who was speeding in her Hyundai i20 car, knocked down Aishwarya’s two-wheeler and they both fell to the ground.

When they two took her into task about the accident, she allegedly assaulted them. In addition, it is mentioned in the complaint that their mobile phone was also taken away while recording the happenings.

The sisters alleged that Lakshmi and Anand Kumar, who was accompanying her, had assaulted her. Though they lodged a complaint at the police station, the sisters alleged that even after three months, the police had not taken any action. Even the mobile phone was not returned, the sisters said.

The sisters approached the Women’s Rights Commission and submitted all necessary documents. But no legal action has been taken so far, Madhuri said.

Elder sister Aishwarya claimed, “Anand Kumar, who was accompanying Lakshmi, used abusive language. I have recorded everything on my phone. He threatened to delete the video and took away our phone when we refused to delete the video. We lodged a complaint with the police to trace the mobile, but they did not take any action even after three months”.

Speaking to Public TV regarding the issue, Lakshmi Siddaiah said, “There was bumper-to-bumper traffic on that day and it’s not possible to drive rashly in such a situation. All their claim of me hitting their two-wheeler and them falling off is all false. Their vehicle just passed my car and they started banging on my window. I got angry and shouted at them. The two then came ahead of my car which was moving and abruptly stopped and my car touched the scooter. They have filed a false complaint and made a big issue out of this before the media”.

“I have respect for the law. The police had called me and they recorded my statement. I secured bail from the court since an FIR was registered. They had called and demanded Rs 2 lakh and asked me to buy them a mobile. Maybe they are trying to blackmail because I am a celebrity”, she said. Further, she said she is quite disturbed by the developments. “I will go through the legal process”, she added.
