SHIVAMOGGA: Two cattle transporters were assaulted by villagers, one of them seriously, at Kuruvalli village in Thirthahalli taluk on Thursday night. The seriously injured man has been shifted to McGann Hospital in Shivamogga.

Uday Kumar and Rahid were transporting cattle in a goods vehicle when they were stopped and assaulted on the suspicion of being cattle smugglers. The Thirthahalli police have now registered an FIR against more than 10 villagers who assaulted the duo.

Gaur electrocuted

An Indian gaur was electrocuted after it came in contact with an electric fence on a farm land at Kundgol-Nyarshi village Sorab taluk two days ago. Soon after the incident, the farm owner has fled the spot. Forest officials have visited the spot and a search has been launched for the farm owner.
