KALABURAGI: Six members of a gram panchayat in Chincholi taluk, who were staying in a Pune lodge, were forcefully abducted on Friday night by a group of over ten people.

With intense lobbying for power in the 18-member Ainolli gram panchayat in Chincholi taluk, a group of 11 members affiliated to the BJP have been on tour for the last 15 days and had been staying in a lodge in Pune.

On Friday night, a group of over ten people landed at the lodge and forcefully took away six of them. In CCTV footage, the members can be seen being pushed by the neck and held by the scruff of their collars and dragged away.

One of the members, Sheik Jagirdar, told Public TV on phone, “They came all of a sudden and assaulted us. We are in politics, but this is not right. They took away my mobile phone and cash. They even threatened us that the police are on their side and would do nothing”.

An FIR has been registered at the Chikli police station in Pune in connection with the incident. Meanwhile, the BJP has alleged that Congress leaders were involved in the incident.
