Six children among several bitten by stray dogs in separate cases

BELAGAVI, KALABURAGI: Six children were among several others attacked by stray dogs in Belagavi and Degalamadi village in Chincholi taluk. In one of the cases, the dog was rabid. All the children are now undergoing treatment in hospitals.

At Mahantesh Nagar in Belagavi, four children who were playing in front of their house were badly attacked by stray dogs. The children sustained injuries in the next, arms, legs, thigh, ears and back. They have been admitted to the district hospital in Belagavi.

Locals complained that the stray dog menace had increased of late and demanded that the authorities take strict action to control their population.

Two students, Shravani and Sanjana, who were on their way to school, were attacked by a rabid dog at Degalamadi village in Chincholi taluk of Kalaburagi district. Mallamma Shivaram, Manikraddi Tumakunta, Gautham, Jagannath Siragonda and Mallappa also sustained injuries.

Villagers said at least 13 people, some dogs and goats, were also bitten by the rabid dog. All the injured were rushed to the Chincholi hospital for treatment. Angry villagers beat the rabid dog to death following the incident.
