BENGALURU: After two years of Covid-19 pandemic, the silicon city celebrated New Year’s Eve with gusto on Saturday. More than three lakh people participated in the celebration.
The New Year’s Eve celebration was organised on Brigade Road, Church Street, and MG Road on Saturday night. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the celebration was halted for two years. But this year, the revelry was beyond expectations.
In the streets of Koramangala, more than 40,000 people gathered to celebrate New Year’s Eve. ‘Rani Channamma’ Pade, a specially trained women police squad, was appointed during the celebration to keep women safe. During the celebrations, women and girls who were drunk and had fallen aside on the road were rescued by these special women officers.

The police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the crowd after it went out of control as people stood watching couples misbehaving in front of a pub in Koramangala.
