HUBBALLI: In an unusual incident, about six shots were fired at a farmhouse where the birthday of an RTI activist’s son was being celebrated last night. Shockingly, over 100 rowdy elements were also attending the party.

Sundar Paul, the son of RTI activist Philomena Paul, a resident of Keshwapur here, was celebrating his birthday at Kalaburagi farmhouse on Kusagal Road on Sunday night. In attendance were over 100 rowdies from Hosur, Settlement and other areas where liquor and non-vegetarian food was being served.

During the celebrations, six shots were fired from a stage, but it was not immediately known who opened fire. The Hubballi police, who visited the spot have registered a case and have seized Philomena Paul’s licenced revolver.

This is not the first time Sundar Paul has courted controversy. Earlier, he had sparked a row by flashing a pistol at a college canteen.
