Search for black box of crashed IAF trainer aircraft continues

The IAF authorities, along with the local police, are still looking for the black box of the aircraft.

CHAMARAJANAGAR: A day after an Indian Air Force (IAF) Kiran light trainer aircraft crashed near Bhogapura in Chamarajanagar district, the search for the black box continued on Friday.

Air Force officials have camped near the crash site and examining the area along with the local police. The two pilots, Wing Commander Tejpal and trainee pilot Bhoomika, had ejected safely from the aircraft using parachutes.

The crash site has been cordoned off by the authorities.

The trainer aircraft had taken off from the HAL airport in Bengaluru and had caught fire while it was in the air. The aircraft broke into several pieces on impact. The pilots, who had ejected, sustained minor injuries and were airlifted to Bengaluru by an IAF helicopter.
