BELAGAVI: The Assistant Commissioner and Sub-divisional Magistrate and the Family Welfare Department, in a joint operation, conducted a raid on Yash Hospital here for conducting sex determination tests on foetuses in violation of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act, 1994.

The ultrasound scanning machine was also sealed.

The raid was conducted on Thursday night following complaints of sex determination tests being conducted at the hospital at Madhav Nagar here. The officials sealed the ultrasound scanning machine and the scanning room and issued a notice to the hospital directing it to reply within a week.

Belagavi Assistant Commissioner Shravan Kumar, probationary IAS officer Shubham Shukla, District Family Welfare Officer Dr Vishwanath M Bhovi, health inspectors Manjunath Bisanalli and Halappa Wodeyar took part in the raid.
