Santro Ravi’s wife files fresh case over fears of misuse of signed cheques

MYSURU: The wife of wheeler-dealer and alleged human trafficker ‘Santro’ Ravi has lodged a fresh complaint against him alleging that she fears misuse of two signed blank cheques which he had allegedly stolen from her.

In 2020, Rashmi D R, the wife, had registered another case after he took away the signed cheques. Now, she had filed a fresh complaint against ‘Santro’ alleging that she fears misue of two remaining cheques.

She  said that ‘Santro’ Ravi had forced her to sign four blank cheques which were with him till 2020. Referring to the old complaint, she claimed that, when she had gone to Devaraja market in September 2020 when Ravi and his associated Prakash hit her two-wheeler and stole a cheque book from her bike. They later produced the cheques at Canara Bank and misused her two signed bank cheques of Canara bank. Ravi kept the two remaining cheques with him, she said.

The police have booked a case under IPC Section 465, 468, 506, 420 and 34.

“In 2021, he submitted a petition in court seeking Rs 10 lakh from me, without my knowledge. I came to know about it through the lawyer when I applied for anticipatory bail. At that time, Prakash had also submitted a petition seeking Rs 5 lakh. On December 13,’Santro’ Ravi also threatened to drag me into cheque bounce cases”, she said.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, a team of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Narasimha Murthy arrived to Mysuru to take over the investigation into the case registered against Santro Ravi at Vijayanagara police station. They gathered information and collected documents from the investigation officer Shivashankar.

The CID team had also cracked the PSI recruitment scam and it is expected that the agency may investigate all cases related to ‘Santro’ Ravi cases, including his WhatsApp chats and audio calls.

In a related development, suspended Police Inspector Praveen, who was accused of favouring ‘Santro’ Ravi in registering a case against his wife and sister-in-law, has got himself admitted to hospital fearing arrest. Inspector Praveen himself was the accused in a Cottonpet case where an inquiry revealed that Praveen had helped ‘Santro’ Ravi by filing a cooked-up case against her.
