UDUPI: An elderly citizen, who was found in an undressed condition, unwell and tired, unable to walk near Achada railway track under Kaup police station limits was rescued by social worker Vishu Shetty Ambalpadi and Kaup police station personnel and admitted to Udupi district hospital. The rescued person was identified as Shashi Shekhar Thakur (67).

Hailing from Tamil Nadu, he was roaming in an undressed condition and unwell near railway track. On the face of it, he appeared to be suffering from some problem like forgetfulness or depression, and, on getting information Vishu Shetty, with help of the Kaup police, rescued him.
On checking an ID card found with person, it was revealed that he had retired after serving as a Lieutenant Commander in the Indian Army. During the rescue, about Rs 42,000 in cash, pant, a shirt and ID cards were found in a bag he was carrying.

Shashi Shekhar Thakur has been admitted to Udupi district hospital and being treated. Social worker Vishu Shetty Ambalpadi has has appealed that those having information about him or relatives contact the Kaup police station or Udupi district hospital.
