Meanwhile, 24 children had fallen ill after consuming contaminated food at the Morarji Desai Residential School at Yadavanahalli in Gundlupet taluk three days ago. The affected students were treated at the primary health centre at Begur.

Following the incident, the CEO of the Karnataka Residential Educational Institutional Society, Dr Naveen Kumar, has ordered the suspension of the school principal Kumaraswamy.

The suspension was ordered over allegations of negligence in storing provisions, not providing proper food to students and not handing charge of the residential block to other teachers.
