CHITRADURGA: The father of one of the accused in the Renukaswamy murder case, in which actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and his girlfriend Pavithra Gowda have also been arrested, collapsed and died after suffering a heart attack on the busy Holalkere road here on Friday. The moment when he collapsed on the road was captured by a CCTV camera.
On Friday, the police arrested accused No. 6 Jagga alias Jagadish and accused No. 7 Ani alias Anukumar in connection with the murder case. They were later taken to Bengaluru. The same evening, Anukumar’s father Chandranna (60) stepped of their house and collapsed on Holalkere Road. Some passersby immediately came to his rescue, but Chandranna died.
Chandranna was doing fine till about 4 pm on Friday, but after learning about his son’s arrest in the case, he was very upset and didn’t speak to anyone, family members said. Anukumar’s sister Sowmya, who was visibly angry, said, “My brother is not a fan of Darshan. The Darshan fans’ association president Raghu is responsible for my brother getting entangles in this case. Till Anu returns, we won’t perform the last rites of my father”.
Anukumar, who drove an autorickshaw for a living, was the pillar of support for the poor family which lives in a small tiled-roof house. With his arrest, the entire family is now in shock. “We are a poor family and we don’t have the money for conducting the last rites, we need financial help”, said Anukumar’s mother Jayamma.
