HUBLI: Akhil Karnataka Brahmin Maha Sabha on Tuesday staged a protest against Tamil Nadu Minister Udaynidhi Stalin’s “eradicate Sanatan Dharma” remark at Sangolli Rayanna Circle of Hubli city in Karnataka.

During the protest, the demonstrators raised slogans against Stalin and demanded strict action against him. Geeta Hegde, Karnataka Brahmin Maha Sabha Dharwad district executive committee member, and Hanumanth Dambal, vice president of Karnataka Brahmin Maha Sabha Dharwad district, were also present at the protest site.

Earlier in the day, Sant Samaj Hari of Rajasthan’s Bhilwara filed a complaint at the police station against Stalin and other politicians for making “anti-Sanatan Dharma” remarks.

The complaint was filed against Udhayanidhi Stalin, Karnataka Minister and Congress leader Priyak Kharge, DMK MP A Raja, and Rashtriya Janata Dal state president Jaganand Singh. The complaint was filed at Bhimganj police station under the leadership of Hansaram Maharaj, the head priest of Seva Udasin Ashram.

Speaking to ANI, Hansaram on Tuesday said, “Son of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and other politicians have given statements against Sanatan Dharma; today we have registered a case against them in Bhimganj Police Station.”

“These politicians always make statements against Sanatan Dharma. Due to this, there is a lot of resentment in the community. We demand that the administration take action and impose strict punishment. If strict action is taken against them, then no one will comment against Sanatan Dharma in the future,” said Hansaram Maharaj, adding, “Politicians should either apologise to Sant Samaj or strict action should be taken against them; otherwise, the Sant Samaj movement will take over the whole of India.”

DMK leader Udhayanidhi’s remark on Sanatana Dharma has sparked massive controversy across the nation, with several BJP leaders and Hindu priests strongly criticising his statement. On September 2, speaking at a public event, Stalin called for the “eradication” of Sanatana Dharma and compared the same with diseases like dengue, malaria, etc.

Meanwhile, hitting out at Udhayanidhi, BJP leader Ravi Shankar said on Tuesday that the Opposition’s India bloc has primarily been formed to “oppose” and finish Sanatan Dharma.

Addressing a press conference at party headquarters in Delhi, the BJP leader accused the opposition alliance of propagating vote-bank politics.

“Their hidden agenda is to do vote bank politics by opposing Sanatana Dharma… I ask the Congress party and this alliance: Do they have the right to criticise deities of some other faith? Do they have the courage? Can they do it? They stay silent on other religions but openly oppose Sanatana,” Prasad said. (ANI)
