Railways to run additional trains to Ayodhya for January 22 Ram temple consecration

BENGALURU: With the entire Hindu society eagerly awaiting the inauguration of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on January 22, the South Western Railway is considering running additional trains for the benefit for devotees travelling from the state to Ayodhya.

The Railways has already announced that trains from different states will run to Ayodhya in view of the large number of devotees heading to Ayodhya from the state. Accordingly, the South Western Railway Zone is planning to operate additional trains from the state for Ram devotees who want to go to Ayodhya.

Kusuma Hariprasad, Additional Divisional Manager, Bengaluru division, said, “We are waiting for approval of the South Western Railway Zonal Centre which has already submitted a proposal to the ministry. There is a possibility that the ministry will issue instruction in the coming days, and the southwestern zone has also started preparations for running additional trains”.

The South Western Railway is chalking out schedules, stations and routes for the additional trains to Ayodhya. It is also making plans to run train from other important railway stations in the state to Ayodhya. Apart from Ayodhya railway station, additional trains can run up toany other stations near the Ram Mandir. “Mainly, we have thought of trains from Bengaluru-Magaluru, Kalaburagi-Hubballi and Mysore cities in the state and the authorities are chalking out plans by taking into account all these factors”, Kusuma Hariprasad explained.
