Quintals of biryani, pulav dumped at convention venue due to poor turnout

A huge quantity of food was wasted at the convention.

CHITRADURGA: Quintals of chicken biryani and pulav, prepared to feed those who attended the oppressed classes’ convention addressed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday, were dumped in heaps at the venue. Videos of people picking up biryani from the heaps went viral on Monday.

A large quantity of food had been prepared anticipating a huge crowd. But since the turnout was not as much as expected, a lot of food went waste and was dumped at the venue itself. The caterers also left behind food items which they had brougth for preparation of the pulav and biryani.

Locals vented anger at the organisers of the convention for allowing so much food to go waste and pointed out that it could have been sent to orphanages or destitute homes. Netizens too rued the massive wastage of food at the event.
