CHITRADURGA: A Public Works Department (PWD) engineer was attacked with stones, resulting in injuries on the head, during an argument with villagers over the poor quality of a newly laid road at Kasavanahalli in Chitradurga taluk on Tuesday. The engineer Nagaraj was rushed to the district hospital for treatment of injuries.

Road work had been taken up in the village under the ‘Namma Grama, Namma Raste’ scheme at a cost of Rs 1 crore. However, the villagers had alleged poor quality of road work and demanded that the entire stretch be relaid again.

During an argument between the engineer and the villagers, tempers suddenly flared up and there was some pushing and shoving. In the melee, engineer Nagaraj was attacked with a stone on the head.

The villagers complained of poor quality of the road work.

The bleeding engineer was rushed to the Chitradurga district hospital for treatment of wounds. The Chitradurga Rural police have registered a case against Veerakariyappa and others of the village.
