SHIVAMOGGA: The state government has ordered an investigation against the vice-chancellor of Kuvempu University, the Registrar (Examination) and the Director of the distance education programme of the university for announcing results without even conducting examinations.

In 2019, the first- and second-year postgraduate distance education programme results were declared without even conducting the examination.

Syndicate member Ballekere Santosh and RTI activist Gajanan Das had complained to the Governor against the V-C, registrar and director alleging that if the result is announced without conducting any examination, it will amount to injustice to other studious students. However, surprisingly, they later withdrew their complaint, apparently under pressure.

But, by then, the executive director of the Higher Education Department had conducted a preliminary investigation and the allegations were found to be prima facie true.

Now, the new government has formed a committee under the chairmanship of a retired judge which has been instructed to investigate the matter and submit a report within 20 days.
