Praveen Kumar Nettaru’s house-warming ceremony held at native place

MANGALURU: The house-warming ceremony of late BJP Yuva Morcha activist Praveen Kumar Poojary Nettaru’s new house was held at Nettaru in Dakshina Kannada district’s Bellare on Thursday. Praveen had dreamt of constructing a new house, his parents had told BJP leaders after his brutal murder. The BJP workers had taken it upon themselves to fulfil his dream and handed over the new house to his family on Thursday.

The dream house of Praveen has been constructed by the BJP on the land where the old house stood in Bellare. A memorial for Praveen has also been built in front of the house and was inaugurated by BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel. Thousands of activists had gathered for the house-warming ceremony.

The house has been built on 2,800 sqft in Nettaru of Sulia taluk in five months at a cost of Rs 70 lakh. Besides, as promised, the BJP has provided a job to Praveen’s wife in the Dakshina Kannada District Commissioner’s office.

BJP Yuva Morcha activist Praveen Kumar Nettaru (31), who owned a chicken shop near Bellare, had closed his shop around 8 pm on the night of July 26, when he was about to return home. At that time, three unidentified men, who came on a motorcycle, attacked him with a sharp weapon. Praveen was immediately shifted to the Puttur hospital but he died due to serious injury in the neck. The incident stirred up a storm between Hindu outfits and minorities.
