Police seize unaccounted cash of Rs 27 lakh from Maharashtra state transport bus passenger

BELAGAVI: The Belagavi city police have seized undeclared cash of Rs 27.34 lakh that was being transported in a Maharashtra government bus on Tuesday.

An individual, identified as Panduranga, was carrying the money in a Maharashtra Transport Corporation bus without any proper document. Ahead of the upcoming state Assembly polls, the police have set up checkposts across the state and every vehicle is being inspected for the past many days. During a check at the Bachi checkpost on the Karnataka-Maharashtra border, Rs 27. 34 lakh in cash was found in a bag without any valid documents.
The cash seized by the police and a case has been registered at Belgaum Rural police station. Further investigation is under way.
