GADAG: The Gadag police have seized Rs 24.50 lakh in unaccounted cash from two cars seized at Mulagunda checkpost on Tuesday.
Gadag SP B S Nemagouda found bundles of cash while checking the vehicles at the checkpost along with police personnel. The police team found Rs 20.50 lakh cash in a car which plying from Davanagere to Gadag while Rs 4 lakh was found in the another car which was heading from Jalihala in Badami taluk to Lakshmeshwar.
In a separate case, the Gadag police had seized 4 kg of gold jewellery worth Rs 1.75 crore seized at a checkpost on the outskirts of Gadag city. The gold ornaments were being brought to Gadag from Mumbai and belongs to Mahipal Jain and Abhishek Jain.
The checking of vehicles was conducted under the guidance of district Deputy Commissioner Vaishali M L and District Superintendent of Police BS Nemagouda.
