SHIVAMOGGA: The Tunganagar police raided a pet food manufacturing unit in the Machenahalli Industrial area of Bhadravathi in the district for allegedly using beef in pet food.

The police raided Malnad Pro Rich factory, belonging to the Kamalesh, after receiving complaints that cattle parts were being used in the production of pet food in the factory.

The factory was allegedly using chicken waste, which is collected from civic body limits, for preparation of packed pet foods. But during the raid on Thursday, a calf’s head was found in the factory. Hence, the police suspect that beef is being used in the pet food factory.

The police seized a car and 12 bags of pet food and registered a suo motu case against the accused Kamalesh.
