CHIKKAMAGALUR: Four illegal Bangladeshi migrants, who were staying at the Simse Bovi Colony in N R Pura taluk for the last three years, were apprehended by the NR Pura police. They have been identified as Abdul, Rahul, Momin Ali and Salim.

Based on credible information, the police raided Bovi Colony and found that the four Bangladeshi nationals did not have any documents. They had come through West Bengal in search of employment.

The fake Aadhaar cards found with the illegal immigrants.

“We had information that illegal immigrants are in the district working as labourers. During efforts to trace them, we came to know about the immigrants in NR Pura taluk. When we questioned them, they said they came into India by crossing the border. We have found fake Aadhaar cards in their possession. They had some Bangladeshi documents like birth certificate, etc. We are taking action against them under the Foreigners Act and we have sent their details to the FRRO. Legal steps will be taken to deport them,” said Chikkamagalur Superintendent of Police Harish Pandey.

“There are reports of other illegal immigrants in the district, but we don’t have definite information as of now. The public is requested to inform the police if they come across any such suspicious people and we will take suitable steps”, the SP added.
