Police check Chinnaswamy stadium ahead of WPL 2024 match, KIA after cafe blast

BENGALURU: Following The Rameshwaram Cafe blast near Whitefield on Friday, the Bengaluru police are on high alert. Checks are being conducted place the at M Chinnaswamy Stadium which is hosting a high-voltage match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) between Royal Challengers Bangaluru (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI) this evening.

As a precautionary measure, the bomb disposal squad and dog squad are conducting checks at various places, including Chinnaswamy Stadium and Cubbon Park in Bengaluru.

The match will start at 7:30 pm. A large number of fans are expected to gather at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, which has a audience capacity of around 35,000. During the match against Delhi Capitals, more than 25,000 fans had filled the stadium. In view of this, the bomb disposal, canine squad have started to inspect every nook and corner of the stadium, even checking the luggage of visitors.

The police at Kempegowda International Airport, near Devanahalli, are on high alert. The CISF security personnel are keeping a close watch on every passenger the luggage of every passenger at the airport is being checked. Additional security staff have been deployed at the airport in order to ensure passengers’ safety.

Along with this, police teams have also started checking sensitive areas like Mahatma Gandhi Road and Church Street in the central business district and also other sensitive locations where large numbers of people gather.
