BENGALURU: A week after the five guarantee schemes announced by the Congress before coming to power, were announced by the new government, people are now lining up at the BangaloreOne centre in Rajajinagar, and cyber centres to enroll for the government schemes.

The Congress guarantees are being hotly debated across the state and more than 100 people are visiting the BangaloreOne centre in Rajajinagar every day to enlist for these schemes. But, since there is no official notification issued by the government to apply right now, officials have posted a notice at the BangaloreOne centre stating ‘Government schemes applications are not done in Bengalore One Centres’. Citizens eager to enlist for the scheme are now returning home emptyhanded.

Manjunath, who works at the Rajajinagar BangaloreOne centre, said, “As many as 100 people are coming every day to apply for the government schemes. We have no exact information about it. The application procedure has not yet started. We are trying to convince the people that the schemes have not yet started and that they have to wait for sometime. If we get instructions from the government, we will definitely enroll people. It is all depend on the government notification”.

“Women are coming with ration cards to delete names and to apply for fresh ration cards after the government announced the Gruha Laksmi scheme”, Manjunath added.

Nagmani, who came to the BangaloreOne centre said, “I came to link my Aadhaar card with my phone number and bank account number. We want to get the benefits of schemes. If the government gives us something for free, then why should I not take it? If the government says no to it, we will accept that also”.
