BENGALURU: The BBMP marshals will now be entrusted with the responsibility of ridding the city of black spots. They will also conduct night patrols to ensure that garbage is not dumped at these places again.

With black spots across the city, the BBMP plans to undertake a clearance drive in each Assembly constituency involving marshals, NGOs, volunteers and pourakarmikas. For this, a sum of Rs 25 lakh has been set aside and 1,478 black spots have been identified.

Once the black spots are cleared, colourful rangolis will be laid out so that they are not dirtied again.

The marshals will also go door to door and create awareness on giving household waste to the garbage collection vehicles only.
