Officials clear dry branches that were posing threat in Muniveerappa Layout after Public TV report

BENGALURU: Summer is the season when trees shed leaves. But dry branches of trees, arching over Shampura Main Road at Muniveerappa Layout in Pulakeshi Nagar Assembly constituency posed a huge threat to motorists and two-wheeler riders.

With the blazing Sun and dry branches of trees creaking overhead, road users were worried that they may fall on them. When the locals complained about it to the BBMP and Forest Department, the officials did not respond. Locals claimed that branches looked like they could fall any moment.

Many people, including schoolchildren, the elderly and motorists take this road every day and an power line passing through the trees also caused some worry.

Nagesh, a resident of Muniveerappa Layout.

“For the past week, the dry branches have been hanging in the Muniveerappa Layout, posing a danger to everyone. We filed complaints with everyone, but no one responded. Some of us got together and cleared one dry branch, but another one was between an electrical wire which we could not touch”, said Nagesh, a local resident.

After Public TV reported the issue, the authorities immediately swung into action and cleared all the dry branches along the road that were posing a danger in Muniveerappa Layout.
