BELAGAVI: Amid the controversy over remarks about Prophet Mohammed, an effigy of former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, was found strung between two buildings on Fort Street here on Friday morning.

The place where the effigy was hanged is a stone’s throw away from a mosque and it is believed that miscreants may have committed the act last night.

Pictures of the effigy hanging high above the road soon went viral. Various Hindu groups have expressed their ire over the incident.

The Market police rushed to the spot and removed the effigy. They are now verifying CCTV footage to identify the culprits. A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
