BENGALURU: In an unusual request, residents of Ward 5 in Judicial Layout in the city have requested the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to sterilise stray cats in the locality.

Normally, citizens write letters to BBMP officials asking them to neuter stray dogs in order to bring down the dog bite cases and monkey menace. But residents of Judicial Layout seem to be irked by stray cats in the area and have requested the BBMP commissioner to sterilise all of them.

Venkatesh HM, a resident of Ward No. 5 in Judicial Layout.

“The population of cats has been increasing over the past few months and once every 5–6 months, they litter. People keep dogs and cats as pets, and we do not have any objection about that. But cats give birth to kittens under beds, parked cars and other places. We have requested the BBMP to sterilise stray cats”, said Venkatesh H M, a resident of Ward No. 5 in Judicial Layout.

The BBMP will sterilise stray cats in the locality.

The BBMP has responded positively to the residents’ request and informed them that it will take necessary action and  solve their problem as soon as possible.
