BENGALURU: The state government which was providing free booster doses of Covid vaccines to citizens as part of the 75-day ‘Covid Vaccination Amrit Mahotsav’, has now said that henceforth, people must pay for the booster shot.

Experts have suggested that a third booster dose is needed for the vaccine to be more effective. The government has given free booster doses to corona patients and those in the 50+ age group. Free booster doses were given to all till September 30.

Less than 30% of the population has received the booster dose since December 2021. During the special drive, less than 10% of the adult population who were eligible for the free Covid vaccine received booster shots. Booster doses will now be charged as per rates fixed by the government.
