No liquor sale from today evening for two days

BENGALURU: Ahead of Assembly elections in Karnataka, the Election Commission has imposed ban on the sale of alcohol in liquor shops, bar and restaurants, and pubs for a period of 48 hours from 5 pm on Monday till midnight on May 10.

Similarly, liquor sales will also be banned on the day of counting of votes. The commission said counting will begin at 8 am on May 13. If  alcohol is sold in violation of rules, legal action will be taken, and storage of large quantities of liquor by individuals will also not be allowed during the above period.

All political meetings and public rallies will end at 5 pm on Monday. The Karnataka Assembly elections will be held for all 224 Assembly constituencies in a single phase on May 10 and counting of votes is scheduled on May 13.
