CHAMARAJANAGAR: Nine villages in Kollegal taluk have been inundated following the release of water from the Kabini and Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) dams with water entering houses in at least one village. The district administration has started shifting families to safer places as a precaution.

Villages including Dasanapura, Harale, Mullur, Hale Anagalli and Hale Hampapura witnessed about 4- feet of water entering the roads. In Dasanapura, the water entered some houses too. Though the district administration is shifting the residents, some families have preferred to stay put.

District Deputy Commissioner Shilpa Nag visited some of the affected villages. “So far, 25 gruel centres have been opened and more than 500 people have been shifted there. We will assess the extent of flooding of agricultural fields by conducting a drone survey”, she said at Dasanapura.

The DC herself went in a coracle and convinced people to move to gruel centres.

The DC also visited Annagalli village by travelling in a coracle and convinced people to shift to gruel centres. She also inspected the flooded houses in the village.
