MADIKERI: A newlywed woman was suspiciously murdered three days after her wedding at 6th Hosakote village near Hebbale on Tuesday night. The deceased has been identified as Akshatha.
The couple Akshatha and Hemanth were in a relationship for the past one-and-half years. They both belonged to the same village, but were of different castes. Three days ago, they both married in a village temple despite opposition from Hemanth’s parents.
The family members of Akshata have alleged that Hemanth and his parents killed her because she belonged to the Dalit community. After learning about her death, Hemanth consumed poison and tried to commit suicide. He is now being treated in the ICU at District Government Hospital in Madikeri. A case has been registered at Kushalnagar Rural police station and further investigation is under way.
