Newly-married woman found hanging at home in Shivamogga

SHIVAMOGGA: A 23-year-old newly married woman committed suicide at Ashwath Nagar in the city on Saturday, allegedly over familial problems. The deceased has been identified as Navyashree (23). Just a few months ago, she got married to Akash, a resident of Shivamogga.

On Saturday night, Navyashree had gone to some others’ houses as part of Tulasi Puja rituals. When her brother Hriday called her in the night, she did not respond his call. Initially, he thought she must be busy, but after some time, he again called her, and again there was no response from her. He called her mother-in-law, Dr Jayashree, who is a renowned doctor at Hommadi Hospital, who told him that she must be in her room.

Navyashree’s brother Hriday got suspicious and came to Shivamogga along with his parents to check on her. When he inquired about her, she could not be found at home. The family members then noticed a light in the car garage. They then checked the garage and found Navyashree hanging.

The body was sent to McGann District Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

A case has been registered at Vinoba Nagar police station and the body was sent to McGann District Hospital for post-mortem examination.
