BENGALURU: Amid the Amul-Nandini row with the state Assembly election weeks away, Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) managing director B M Satish has clarified that the KMF maintains a leadership position in sale of milk and that the Nandini brand of products are available online across the country.

“No other brand will impact Nandini, which has 82 per cent of the market share in Karnataka for milk and other products. There are more than 15-16 brands already in the state, but our market share has remained the same. In Bengaluru, about 33 lakh litres of milk is sold every day, of which our share is 26 lakh litres. Nandini is known for its reasonable price, quality and nativity. When it comes to social media campaigns, I believe that citizens do it because of their love for our products”.

No other brand will make an impact on KMF as it has 82 per cent of the market share in the state, says KMF MD.

“For the past 6-7 years, Amul buys milk from Goa and sells about 300-600 litres in Belagavi and Hubballi per day. Amul has announced online sale in some parts of Bengaluru, but every day, KMF sells 2.5 lakh litres of Nandini milk through online sales. So, any brand that comes along cannot beat KMF due to the quality, supply chain and pricing no other brand can make any major impact. We have grown to be the largest milk production society in the country. The Amul MD has even stated that we will have healthy competition”, he added.

Further, he said, “There is no shortage of milk anywhere in the state and it is all a lie. Compared to last year, the market growth of our products is 17 per cent, which includes 37 per cent growth in sale of of curds and 33 per cent growth in sale of ghee. There is huge demand, but during the summer, milk production is usually low. The price of Nandini milk is lesser by Rs 6-8. If other regions of the state request milk, we give it to them according to availability. Our state is our priority. We even sell our products in other states, including Goa, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune and even throughout India. Our goal is to produce ice cream in all states using 5 lakh litres of milk every day”.
