BENGALURU: Yet again, Namma Metro services were affected on the purple line on Tuesday morning as operations were suddenly stopped due to some technical glitch. Commuters were stranded for hours at the Majestic Metro station and elsewhere along the route.

On the green line too, commuters could not get trains for at the National College station for some time due to some.

A signalling problem between the Garudachar Palya and Baiyappanahalli stations was said to be the reason for the services being affected. Thousands of metro passengers expressed outrage as they were delayed in reaching their destination. There was a verbal exchange inside the metro station between passengers and the station security personnel.

Metro trains were operating slowly between Baiyappanahalli and Garudachar Palya due to the technical fault. The number of passengers kept increasing at the Majestic metro station as the metro runs every half hour on the route.

The entry door at Majestic Metro station was closed due to the increased number of passengers. Only passengers, who were alighting were allowed to exit the station. Many commuters were forced to wait outside the entrance while some took cabs and autorickshaws.

The BMRCL officials said the technical glitch in Namma Metro was fixed around 10 am and normal Metro services were restored around 11 am.

Bengaluru South MP Tejaswi Surya raised the issue of repeated technical snags in the Metro operations. Taking to his official ‘X’ handle, he wrote expressing concern over regular passengers facing inconvenience during peak hours due to repeated problems in Metro services. “Therefore, there should be a thorough review of the entire management. The people of Bengaluru are grateful for Metro’s everyday services, but taking maintenance issues lightly will not be appreciated. I hope the BMRCL course is correct”, he noted.
