HAVERI: Close on the heels of the moral policing and gangrape incident in Hangal, another case of moral policing has come to light in Byadagi where a Muslim woman and a Hindu man were allegedly assaulted. Based on a complaint from the girl, the police have arrested seven people.
The woman was heading was heading to a relative’s place in Agasahalli on her colleague’s two-wheeler when they were stopped by a group of men in front of the Shiva temple near the municipal council office and allegedly assaulted.
The men questioned her why she was travelling with the Hindu man, manhandled her and even slapped her. In her complaint, the woman alleged that she was also threatened of life by the group of men.
The police have registered an FIR against nine people and registered seven of them so far. Those named in the FIR are Mansoor Mudgal, Mansoor Tandur, Mehboobkhan Badiger, Riyaz, Alfaz Baligar, Abdul Desoor, Khader Kanake, Salimsab Khazi and Mahbood Ali Halageri. A team headed by the Deputy SP is investigating the case.
