No tourist entry to Chikkamagalur for six days from today in view of Datta Jayanti

CHIKKAMAGALUR: Tourist entry to all the popular picnic spots in the Chandradrona hill ranges is barred for six days from today up to December 27 in view of the Datta Jayanti celebrations. On the last day of the fete, sale of liquor is also banned in all the five taluks of Chikkamagalur, Mudigere, Sringeri, Koppa and NR Pura.

Ettina Bhuja in Chikkamagaluru is a huge draw among trekkers.

Tourist entry is barred at Mullayyanagiri, Datta Peetha, Seetalayyanagiri, Galikere, Manikyadhara Falls and other places. However, those who have made prior bookings at homestays and resorts can visit Chikkamagalur, but will not be allowed at any of the tourist spots.

Thousands of devotees are expected to take part in the Datta Jayanti celebrations from different parts of the state and also from Kerala. Locals have welcomed the move in the light of the rising Covid cases in the state.
