Mumbai-based social media star arrested with two companions by B’luru police for gold theft

BENGALURU: A Mumbai-based social media star arrested by the Amrutahalli police for allegedly committing thefts and gold of about 1 kg was seized from him.

The accused Salim Sahil had been jailed around the same time last year after he was arrested by the Basavanagudi police. He had then been caught with more than 3.5 kg of gold.

After coming out of jail, Salim continued his thieving ways and has again landed in the police net. A case has been registered at the Amrutahalli Police Station.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Lakshmiprasad, briefing about the case, said, “We got to know while investigating house theft cases that a Mumbai-based team used to come here and steal in many places. The prime accused Salim Rafiq alias Bombay Rafiq is wanted in about 40 cases registered case against him. We have arrested his companions Yasin and Maqbul who are professional thieves. We have recovered Rs 67 lakh worth of gold. 1.5 kg gold and 6.5 kg silver. Now we are getting clues about their activities in many cases”.

Northeast division DCP Lakshmiprasad briefing the case to media persons.

The DCP further said, “We have cracked about 10 cases linked to Salim. They are professional thieves and habitual offenders. They used to keep a watch over houses before breaking in”.

Four cases have been registered at Amrutahahalli police station. The police have seized iron rods, screwdrivers and other articles from the accused.
