BENGALURU: The monsoon has been deficient in June in Karnataka and across the country and is the third worst season in 126 years. Less than normal rainfall has been recorded in June and several states have recorded monsoon deficit.
This time, only 92.1 mm of rainfall was recorded in the country while the deficit in June was 42 per cent. In 1905, only 92.3 mm rainfall had occurred. Later, in 2009, 87.5 mm of rainfall was recorded.

Normally, the monsoon should bring 165 mm of rainfall in India. But this time, due to El Niño, there has been a huge decline. In June this year, only 92.1 mm rainfall has been recorded. This situation is likely to continue for the most part in July as well.
