HAVERI: A NWKRTC bus plying between Haveri and Hirekerur had an unusual passenger hitching a free ride — a monkey. The simian travelled a good 30 km in the bus, occupying a window seat with the wind blowing on its face.

The monkey checked out the seats before settling down.

The monkey got on to the bus at the Haveri bus stand and first checked out the seats and perhaps even the view from different windows. For some distance, it even travelled next to an aged woman, sitting in the aisle seat.

The monkey finally occupied a window seat, held on to the support rod affixed to the seat ahead and enjoyed the journey. Other passengers even shared biscuits and bananas and while some of them were anxious, others seemed excited about their co-passenger.

The monkey got off the bus and hopped on to a two-wheeler.

The monkey finally got off the bus at Hamsabhavi, about 30 km away and as soon at it deboarded, it hopped on to a two-wheeler to continue its travels. A video of the incident was shared by Ganesh Noolager who was travelling in the same bus, which has since gone viral.
