BENGALURU: It was a lucky escape from a big disaster for a techie yesterday at The Rameshwaram Cafe. He is the one of the eyewitnesses to the bomb blast at the cafe and has explained how he escaped the disaster because of his mother’s call. Kumar Alankrit detailed the incident on his ‘X’ handle.

Kumar Alankrit, a software engineer from Patna, Bihar, narrated the horrific story on his X account. He stated that he had never faced such a situation before and shared the first video after the explosion at the cafe.

Alankrit, who was working from home, had gone to The Rameshwaram Cafe  for lunch, which is a short distance from his rented house in Brookfield, around 12.30 pm on Friday.

Taking his ‘X’ handle, he wrote, “I ordered idli and one dosa. I went to the dosa counter as soon I finished Idli. Usually I sit in the area near the dosa pick-up point. But on Friday, my mother called me as I was having dosa. There was a lot of noise inside the cafe. As it was crowded, I went outside to the sitting area to talk with my mother. At this time, I suddenly heard a loud sound from behind”, he stated.

“As soon as the noise was heard, a large number of customers came out. People were distracted. I had never heard such a loud noise in my life. I was shocked to see thick black smoke coming from the kitchen area. Many people were injured in the blast. The clothes of many were burned, torn and some were bleeding from the ears”, he explained.

“A woman’s top was torn from behind. Another man was bleeding in the head. Two elderly women, who are about 80 years old, got injured. The public was giving first aid to the injured. More than five employees of Rameshwaram Cafe were seriously injured. One of them was crying. Many people were seen closing their ears due to the loud noise”, he wrote.

“The situation was brought under control after the arrival of ambulance and fire brigade personnel. I saw the fear on people’s faces. They were crying in shock after the blast took place”, he stated.
