CHITRADURGA: A supporter of Holalkere MLA M Chandrappa attacked a Congress-backed gram panchayat member with a brick at Chikkajajur village in the district on Thursday. A video of the brutal attack has since gone viral. The attack has drawn widespread condemnation from the public.
D C Mohan, a former president of the Chikkajajur gram panchayat threw a brick at gram panchayat member Siddesh over some political rivalry. Siddesh sustained a deep gash on the head and was treated at a hospital in Davanagere. The two had a dispute over installing drinking water taps in the village.
On Friday, Congress workers took out a protest march condemning the attack and demanding the arrest of Mohan. They even attempted to lay siege to the Chikkajajur police station. Mohan is absconding ever since the attack.
