Mini bus carrying employees to KIA rams into truck from behind, 8 injured

The mini bus had rear-ended the lorry.

CHIKKABALLAPUR: A mini bus carrying employees to the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) rammed into a lorry which was ahead of it near the Kannamangalapalya Gate on the airport road early on Thursday.

The driver of the mini bus suffered a fractured leg while seven other employees sustained minor injuries. The impact of the collision was such that the front portion of the mini bus was completely crushed. The Kempegowda International Airport police have registered a case.

In another accident, a motorcycle rider was killed after colliding with a Toyota Innova MUV near Bommenahalli Gate on the Chikkaballapur-Gauribidanur road. The deceased was identified as Venkataram Reddy (45), hailing from Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh. Both vehicles had gone off the road into a roadside field.

Venkataram Reddy was a financier and was staying in a rented house in Chikkaballapur. The accident occurred when he was on his way to Gauribidanur on Thursday morning. The occupants of the Maharashtra-registered MUV had fled the scene. The Chikkaballapur Rural police have registered a case.
