Trekkers at Dudhsagar Falls made to do sit-ups as punishment by Goa police

KARWAR: Hundreds of trekkers from different parts of Karnataka, who had gone to Dudhsagar Falls, were made to do sit-ups by the Goa police and Railway police as punishment.

Several trekkers from Belagavi, Bagalkot and other parts of the state had gone to see the Dudhsagar waterfall as it has been raining heavily and the waterfall is in all glory. The Goa Police and Railway police stopped the group as they were walking on the railway track through the Goa border.

The police prevented them midway and strictly warned them that not to proceed towards waterfalls. The police made them do sit-ups as punishment and asked them to return to their hometowns.

The Goa government has banned people from going to Dudhsagar Falls from today as a rush of tourists and trekkers are arriving to see the falls. More than 50 policemen, forest guards and railway personnel have been deployed at the spot.
