Metro conducts tests on yellow line after completion of track electrification work

BENGALURU: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) on Thursday conducted checks on the viaduct on the yellow line after completion of track electrification work. Civil works on Reach-5 between RV Road and Bommasandra are also almost complete.

The testing is being conducted in two sections. In the first phase, checks will be conducted from BTM Layout station, Jayadeva, Ragigudda and RV Road station buffer area where 33 kv lines and 750 volt DC third rail has been laid. Later on, testing will be conducted along Bommasandra, Hebbagodi, Infosys, Electronics City Metro stations.

Previously, the Metro authorities had conducted tests by running a few coaches of the driverless Metro train using generators on the yellow line. Now, after completion of electrification work, further tests are being conducted. The BMRCL authorities are hoping to start commercial operations on the yellow line by end-October or early November.
