BAGALKOT: In one of the rare instances, a couple who had been married for 55 years, died within hours of each other at Rabkav-Banahatti town in Bagalkot district on Tuesday.
Bheemappa Bagalkot (80) had been suffering from age-related ailments for some time and had been admitted to a private hospital in Vijayapura. He, however, breathed his last around 1 am on Tuesday night.
On hearing about Bheemappa’s death, his wife Kasturi (74) suffered a heart attack around 4 am on Tuesday and died. The family members have decided to conduct the last rites of the couple together.
