CHAMARAJANAGAR: A 35-year-old healthy elephant, which was known as the Trijunction King, collapsed and died at the Ramapura elephant camp. The elephant would roam the forests of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu and got the name Trijunction King.

The marauding elephant was captured five months ago.

The cause of death was not known immediately. Forest officials said the autopsy report would reveal how the elephant died and the postmortem examination is likely to be conducted today.

The elephant used to maraud houses on the edge of the forest and eat up rice and vegetables and also destroy crops. The elephant was also referred to as ‘Rice King’ and was trapped near Guddekeri in Yelachatti of Bandipur forest.
