BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) yet again sealed Mantri Mall over property tax arrears.

Mantri Mall has been shut many times in the past as it has to pay tax dues up to Rs 51 crore. Now the mall has been locked under tight security by marshals and police, and the main entrance has been shut down.

In January this year, the Palike raided the Mantri Square mall for tax dues, but the mall authorities succeeded in securing a stay order from a local court.

Munish Moudgil, Special Commissioner (Revenue), said the officials are personally visiting the malls and issuing notices for property tax collection. “We won’t let anyone evade taxes. The BBMP is aiming to collect Rs 2,500 crore in property tax this year”, he said.
