HAVERI: A man from Mudenur village in Ranebennur taluk was stripped half naked, thrashed and dumped in front of a police station after his nephew eloped with a girl on Monday.
A girl from Chalageri had eloped with Prakash of Mudenur village three days ago. Angered by the incident, the woman’s family members assaulted Prakash’s uncle Prashant.
Prashant was kidnapped from Mudenur and left half-naked in front of the Ranebennur Rural police station. Prashant alleged that those who attacked him were the relatives of the woman from Chalageri village. It is said that the family members thrashed Prashant as they thought that he had aided Prakash and the girl to elope.
Prashant said, “I din’t even know that the duo had left home. Her family mistook that I was involved in their elopement. They tortured me for three days, and now, all of a sudden, 25 people came and thrashed me. A case has been registered at Halageri police station regarding the assault”.
